This series combines ideas from many in the other series: man's role in nature, technology and the long and upward march of "progress", entertainment and space exploration. Addressing climate change, species extinction, and industrial agriculture, for example, in addition to the myriad racial/social/economic/environmental issues plaguing our world, will involve much more than simply addressing the "natural" world - it will require reexamining, reimagining, and reconstructing what it means to be human in the 21st century.

"What is acted out on the female body parallels the larger practices of domination, fragmentation, and conquest against the earth body, which is being polluted, strip-mined, deforested, and cut up into parcels of private property. Equally, this pattern points to the fragmentation of the psyche, which ultimately underlies and enables all of this damage."  - Jane Caputi

“Because, underneath all of this is the real truth we have been avoiding: climate change isn’t an “issue” to add to the list of things to worry about, next to health care and taxes. It is a civilizational wake-up call. A powerful message—spoken in the language of fires, floods, droughts, and extinctions—telling us that we need an entirely new economic model and a new way of sharing this planet. Telling us that we need to evolve.”  - Naomi Klein, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate

"There can be no renewal of our relationship with nature without a renewal of humanity itself." - Pope Francis, Laudato Si
